Despite a cold and wet welcome, Pitti Uomo opened with a positive atmosphere and high visitor traffic. With more than 750 exhibitors—almost half of them international brands—the trade fair remains an institution as well as an experience. For many, the Christmas business appears to have performed better than expected, providing a welcome boost.

The color palette was more restrained, and the silhouettes more serious. Greater emphasis was placed on high-quality materials and wearable fashion. This year, figures are taking center stage, alongside storytelling and heritage. Export is becoming increasingly important for all brands, as shrinking domestic markets allow for less volume at home.

Buyers are demanding multiple layers of security, which plays to the strengths of established brands. Leading names such as GUESS Man and GUESS Jeans, Rag & Bone, Bogner, U.S. Polo Assn., Drykorn and Ellesse stood out with creative booths and immersive brand experiences. Distinctive designer brands such as Tangtsungchien from Taiwan, German designer Gabriel Stunz, Cachí from Paris, as well as new exhibitors like Icebreaker with merino qualities and down jackets by Space Friends, succeeded in attracting buyers.

Pitti Uomo remains a strong anchor for the industry, and after a solid opening, there is justified anticipation for how the season will develop.
